Exploring Acrylic Painting- a Class for Beginners
May 14 – June 4, Tuesday evenings
www.southamptonart.com/program_results
This course is designed to introduce acrylic paints to those who have never used them or anyone who would like to know more about them. Acrylics are very versatile as they can be used in different ways on a variety of mediums. The advantages of acrylics are that they are much more forgiving than watercolour paints (meaning you can paint over your mistakes!) and they dry much, much faster than oils. In this four-week course you will learn about methods of painting with acrylics and as well as the tools you will need.
Lively, Loose Landscapes
June 19 - 21
www.southamptonart.com/program_results
If you love to paint landscapes and want to loosen up your skills, this workshop will provide you with the techniques needed to create loose, flowing paintings. Inspired by the beauty of Lake Huron and the surrounding beachfront community, we will paint skies, water and beach and in the process discover what paint colours work best to produce successful landscapes. All skill levels are welcome.

www.southamptonart.com/program_results
Watercolour paints are one of the most beautiful, the most challenging and fun mediums to use! If you are just starting out or are finding that you are struggling with your paints (translation: making mud), this workshop is designed to promote the success of your artwork. You will learn about the categories and qualities of watercolour paints and how and when to use them. You will also learn about “tried and true” colour schemes, how to create mood with colour and temperature, and the power of values and the rich effects of glazing. Handouts will be provided.
